Pledge portfolios, positions and purchase lots

You can pledge whole portfolios or selected positions (fully or partially) to reserve assets, such as for loans or incentive programs. When pledged, positions can't be traded:

  • Transactions can't be created or imported.

  • Clients can't create trade orders in FA Client Portal.

  • Fees, account interest, and corporate actions are still available.

You can unpledge the positions to make them tradeable again.

Pledging options

You can pledge whole portfolios or selected positions (full or partial):

  • Whole portfolio – Pledging prevents all transactions except fees, account interest, and corporate actions.

  • Individual positions (full or partial) – The system transfers the pledged assets to a designated pledged portfolio using Remove and Add transactions.

    • Remove transaction moves the asset from the original portfolio.

    • Add transaction inserts it into the pledged portfolio

Accumulated ex-post costs are moved along with the position, in proportion to the pledged amount.

Pledge a whole portfolio

You can pledge all positions in a portfolio at the same time. You should use this option only if you know that all positions in the portfolio will be unpledged at the same time. To pledge the whole portfolio:

  1. In FA Back, open the portfolio to pledge.

  2. Select Pledged.

  3. Click Save & close.

The whole portfolio is now pledged.

You can also use the import functionality to pledge a portfolio: see File format for importing portfolios. For unpledging, import can't be used.

To unpledge the whole portfolio, deselect Pledged in the Portfolio window, Basic info tab.
