Transfer assets between portfolios
You can use this functionality to transfer positions or account balances from one portfolio to another using an "Add", "Remove", "Deposit", or "Withdrawal" transaction. Assets can be transferred with the market value or the original purchase value. You can use this, for example, to collateralize assets by transferring them to a locked collateral portfolio.
Note
The process does NOT keep records of costs, taxes or accrued interest through the transfer. If purchase prices were adjusted, for example, via deferrals, the adjustments are also not transferred.
Transfer assets
In the Overview, right-click the portfolio you want to transfer assets from in the portfolio hierarchy.
Select Transfer assets between portfolios → Transfer with market value or Transfer assets between portfolios → Transfer with original purchase value.
Define the basic information of the transfer:
- Transfer to
Target portfolio in which the positions are transferred.
- Account for cash transfer
Cash account in which cash balances are transferred.
Define the transfer details:
- Position date
Option to use the market price from a specific date. You can use this field to select a date that differs from the Transaction date which is when the transfer actually occurs. If you specify another date for fetching the market price, that date is used as the Transaction date of the "Add" transaction while the transfer date is in the Booked transaction field. If the two dates are the same, the Transaction date of the "Add" transaction is both the transfer date and the date used to fetch the market price.
- Transaction date
Date of the transfer. If you specify a different date for this field than for the Position date, this only determines when the transfer actually occurs.
- Transfer original purchase price
Option to book the original purchase price into the original values on the "Add" transactions when transferring with the market value. This allows you to transfer unrealized capital gains to another portfolio for taxation purposes. If you use this option, Position date and Transaction date do not affect the market price of the transfer.
Define what to transfer. You can:
Transfer an absolute number of units from a position. Double-click a position in the list and fill in Transfer units. When moving a cash position, you can also define a target account in Account.
Transfer an absolute number of units from specific purchase lots (override FIFO). Click the arrow next to a row to see the purchase lots, double-click a purchase lot, and fill in Transfer units.
Transfer an equal share from each position. Define a percentage to transfer in Percentage at the bottom of the window and click Calculate.
Click Accept transfer.
